Business context
The client is a furniture e-commerce company selling made-to-order furniture to online buyers. Custom dimensions, colors and styles are the offer, but buyers cannot see or touch the piece before it is built. Every order had to be clear enough to price and produce.
The challenge
The client wanted an easy-to-use furniture designer so online buyers could choose their own dimensions, color and style, see the result accurately and order. The 3D model had to update in real time as parameters changed, stay correct at any size, and load fast on a web page. The same configuration also had to drive the price and the order.
Our solution
We built a full-stack web platform on three.js, react-three-fiber and React with WebGL rendering. Buyers configure furniture from a style catalogue in real-time 3D, see the cost and place an order. Admins add new designs without code changes.
- Template-based design catalogue
- Admins can design and publish new designs
- Fast-loading viewer
- Real-time change of dimensions, template and other design parameters
- Exploded view, multiple views, zoom, rotate and pan
- Cost estimation from the selected configuration
- Ordering, with CRM integration to track cart and orders
Business impact
Easy to use, with extendible designs.
- Buyers see the exact piece they are ordering, which reduces doubt about made-to-order purchases
- Every order carries a complete configuration, so the team that builds it gets clear specifications
- The catalogue grows through the admin tool, so new products reach the store faster
- Carts and orders flow into the CRM, giving sales a view of carts as well as completed orders
