The challenge
The client needed a web app to visualize and design the extension of a house within the constraints of local regulations.
What we built
We developed a new web-based 3D viewer with Mapbox, three.js and React that builds the scene from GIS data and computes what can be built.
What we delivered
- Viewer created from scratch
- GIS data loaded from a PostGIS database, with the scene built from dynamic data
- Rendering of the land parcel, its neighbourhood and trees
- Design constraints computed from the City of Toronto's regulatory framework
- Design options computed for an additional dwelling unit
The outcome
Local regulations are enforced automatically as users navigate through the design options.
